Fire Prevention
FireSmart BC
The single best way to protect your property from wildfires is FireSmarting. FireSmart BC provides a wealth of information about protecting your property from wildfires including the FireSmart BC Homeowner’s Manual, and FireSmart Home Infographic providing quick tips and suggestions.
Chimney Fire Bags
Chimney Fire Bags are free from the Burton Volunteer Fire Department. These are basically bags of fire extinguisher powder. Simply throw them in the fire box if you have a chimney fire and completely or partially close the fire box to vent the powder up the chimney. Contact any member of the fire department, Brian Harrop (fire chief) at 265-3492, or come down to the fire department during practice Monday nights at 7:00.
